We believe everyone in our community deserves a chance to live their best life. Our Social Services ministry and Community Outreach programs provide hope and practical help to families and individuals facing challenging circumstances.

Social Services Ministry

Social Services

The Social Services ministry provides a compassionate and realistic response to families and individuals in crisis. Persons applying need to be below 200% of the federal poverty guideline (approx. $50,200 for a family of four).

Persons applying are asked to bring a photo ID, proof of household income, and proof of address. Applicants for assistance must be residents of Ashland County.

Each head of household must complete and sign an intake form.

During the one-on-one interview with the emergency assistance case manager, solutions to the underlying cause of the crisis are addressed through referrals and advocacy. It is our goal to achieve long-term solutions to problems in order to enhance family stability.

Pathway of Hope

Pathway of Hope is a nationwide initiative rooted in an intensive case management approach, providing targeted services to families with a desire to take action to break the cycle of crisis and enable a path out of inter-generational poverty. Its curriculum is client-centered, focusing on empowerment through a strengths-based lens and aiming to address root causes of barriers through the use of existing internal resources alongside extensive community collaboration.

The Salvation Army will always continue to serve those who come to us in need, but Pathway of Hope goes a step further, providing a hand up as opposed to a handout.
