Due to the impact of COVID-19 on our community, the Kroc Center's Food Pantry anticipates needing to serve more individuals and families in the coming months.
The Kroc Center receives donations from the Greater Cleveland Food Bank and local grocery stores. In normal times, anywhere from 10-30 Ashland County residents visit the pantry daily to select the items they need, including plenty of fresh produce, to last for several days.
In the last week, that number has averaged 25 families a day.
The pantry has become a first line of defense for people in the community who have fallen on hard times. “We are able to feed people who would normally go hungry,” Theresa says, “and be there for emergency situations in which people literally have no food. We have taken food to people who have no transportation. We have fed hungry people who have no place to go.”
Aside from serving individuals, the pantry sponsors a number of food-related programs as well, including a meal every weekday (available for pick-up during the crisis) and a monthly commodity box for low-income seniors (currently being delivered to their homes).
If you are able, please consider donating to the food pantry during this challenging time. Any canned goods, pasta, bread, paper products, and other nonperishables are all needed, as well as financial contributions to help with food purchases and distribution.
The food pantry will continue to operate weekdays from 10 AM to 2 PM, so it will accept donations during those hours, or you can take donations to the welcome center between the hours of 9 AM and 4 PM.
You may have to call the pantry or the main phone line if there is no one at the welcome center when you arrive.
Thank you for supporting the Kroc Center and our community.« Back to Blog
